Hindu Business Line reports the Ministry of Home Affairs has recently exempted several agricultural activities and crops including arecanut, from the lock down restrictions.
Welcoming the MHA order, Suresh Bhandary, Managing Director of Campco said the cooperative would now carry out activities such as processing, packaging, sale and marketing of arecanut.
It is worth noting that Campco had initiated the process of buying arecanut from grower-members last week to help them earn their livelihood during the lockdown.
It is said the authorities concerned in Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts have already allowed Campco to procure arecanut at many more centres than before.
