Om Devi Malla, Vice-Chairperson of National Cooperative Federation of Nepal and the newly elected ICA board member has received the “Thakur Ved Ram International Award” in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh for her contributions to the cooperative sector of Nepal.
Another Indian cooperator from Chhattisgarh Lakhan Lal Sahu was also short-listed to receive the award for his contributions in the Cooperative Sector. But since Sahu missed his flight,he could not attend the award giving function. Sahu is a Governing Council member of the apex body NCUI.
Om Devi Malla was also Nepal’s Parliamentarian. She had annexed a seat on the board of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) last year-the first by anyone from Nepal in more than 100 years long history of ICA.
In Kullu, the award giving ceremony was organized on the occasion of the 98th Jayanti samaroh of Shree Ved Ram Thakur “Soul of Bhuttico”. As many as ten people from different sectors of cooperative were given award on this occasion. NCUI CE N Satyanaryana was also present on the occasion.
Om Devi Malla shared the news through social media and wrote “Today on 21 April, I received the ” The Thakur Ved Ram International Award” in Kullu District of Himanchal Pradesh India in the recognition of my contribution in Cooperative Sector of Nepal”.
“This honor has given me extra sense of responsibility to the cooperative movement”, her post reads.
