Opening the centenary year celebrations of Karnatak Central Co-operative Bank, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said ” our government’s decision to waive loans for farmers has been taken as a model by other States” reports Hindu.
The chief minister hoped that the central government would help the state government bear the additional financial burden arising out of the loan waiver scheme.
However, Siddaramaiah was critical of Karnataka BJP leaders who have not supported the state government in its negotiations with the central government on the issue.
The chief minister, among other things, also made a special of his government’s firm commitment to strengthen the cooperative sector in the state on the occasion.
