A minor fire erupted in ammonia II plant of KRIBHCO in Hazira on Sunday. General manager (HR) NK Sahu said the incident happened at around 10.20am in ammonia II plant when a 50mm thick pipe for hydrogen and nitrogen gases burst due to pressure, reports TOI.
Ammonia, hydrogen and nitrogen gases are passed through a single pipe. “Automatic control room shut the plant and fire engines were pressed into service.
The fire was doused within 15 minutes,” Sahu said, adding that it will take one week to restore normal operations in the fertilizer plant.
