Allegations of a swindle of Rs. 3.24 crore have been made against functionaries of a cooperative society named Kotladoom agricultural cooperative society in Punjab. The case has been registered but the accused are yet to be arrested, reports Tribune News Service.
The two functionaries Manjit Singh and Rattan Singh secretary and manager respectively of the Kotladoom agricultural cooperative society, Ajnala, Amritsar have been booked under sections of 420 409 , 120 and 7 ,13 of the Prevention of the Corruption Act. Assistant Registrar Balwinder Singh had lodged a complaint with the Amritsar rural police.
According to the registrar, a departmental enquiry had revealed a scam of a huge amount of money due to non-payment of dues by scores of members. The accused, among other things, had faked documents and given money to the people who were not alive.
