New Indian Express reports the Kerala High Court sent a notice to the state government on a PIL challenging a government order permitting local bodies to donate to a CPM-controlled cooperative hospital in Kanhangad.
A BJP functionary moved the High Court calling the order issued by the Department of Local Self Government “arbitrary and illegal”.
It bears recalling that the slabs for the donation were fixed by the hospital management — CPM leaders — and approved by the state government through the government order.
A local cooperator is quoted as saying this is not an isolated example, usually the dividing lines between the govt. and the ruling party are all but blurred.
