Speaking in the state assembly, Kerala finance minister T.M. Thomas excoriated the Modi government for the note ban and a hurried implementation of GST and said these fatally flawed policies had affected the co-operative sector in the state, reports Outlook.
The Kerala finance minister went as far as to say demonetization had amounted to destroying the cooperative sector.
The minister reiterated the left government’s commitment to protect the sector and the process of setting up the Kerala Bank was a solid effort in this direction.
The left government will set up the Kerala bank by merging district Co-operative banks with state Co-operative banks, as reported earlier in these columns.
