An officer of the Kerala State Cooperation for Fisheries Development (Matsyafed) who exposed the financial irregularities and mismanagement on the part of a primary fishermen cooperative society from Beypore was assaulted at the annual general body meeting of Matsyafed held recently at Ernakulam Town Hall, reports Hindu.
T.V. Ramesan, the victim, filed a written petition to the Circle Inspector of Ernakulam Town Station as the State authorities of Matsyafed allegedly failed to initiate disciplinary action against the accused, who is now the president of the Beypore-based cooperative society.
The petition submitted by Ramesan alleged that the cooperative society president had turned aggressive towards him for the report he submitted to the Registrar of Fisheries against the society citing financial irregularities reported in the previous years.
The petition also pinpointed the follow-up investigation conducted by various teams into the irregularities and the reports they submitted attesting the findings.
