The Kerala High Court ruled that if documents held by a cooperative society are accessible to the registrar and are not exempt under Section 8 of the RTI Act, the registrar must provide these to the RTI applicant, media reports say.
This decision followed a writ petition by the Mupathadam Service Cooperative Bank Ltd, challenging an order from the state information commissioner.
The court emphasized that documents like construction agreements and meeting minutes must be disclosed unless exempt, ensuring greater transparency and public access within cooperative societies.
