Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, 1997 batch IAS officer from Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the new Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies in the Union Ministry of Cooperation.
Agarwal replaces Anand Kumar Jha, a Forest Officer who was there for a short tenure. Agarwal took charge as the new CRCS in the newly built office in Delhi.
Agrawal join the Cooperation Ministry in the first week of August as Additional Secretary. Soon after, he took charge of the Central Registrar, a post pivotal to the growth of multi state co-op societies in the country.
The new CRCS holds graduate degree in Mathematics and Post Graduate Degree in Operations Research from Delhi University. He started his career as Sub-Divisional Magistrate in the year 1999 and became Additional Director in Tourism Department of Kerala in the year 2001.
Agarwal was also the Managing Director of Bekal Resorts Development Corporation for some time. He has worked in various capacities in the Urban Administration and Development Department, Social Welfare Department, Finance and Water Resources Department.
He also served as Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department in Kerala and Secretary, Finance Resources, Government of Kerala.
