The Kerala Cooperatives Department has begun exporting 12 tonnes of value-added agricultural products to the United States. These goods, processed by local cooperative societies, were sent off by Cooperation Minister V N Vasavan.
The initiative is designed to boost the state’s agricultural sector and farmer incomes. Additionally, a new office will be established in Kochi to support more agricultural exports.
Minister Vasavan highlighted that the government recently trained 30 cooperative societies in value-added agricultural processing at a program in Kumarakom.
Furthermore, each society received Rs 2 crore from an agricultural infrastructure fund, in collaboration with Nabard, to enhance facilities like cold storage and processing.
