Karnataka Sugar Minister Shivanand Patil announced on Saturday that he has ordered thorough investigations into illegal activities in cooperative sugar factories across the state, media reports say.
An investigation into irregularities at Nandi Sugar Factory is already underway, with action to follow soon.
Patil also revealed that Ranna Cooperative Sugar Factory in Mudhol will be leased to a private agency to revive operations and aid farmers.
Additionally, Mysugar, the state-owned factory in Mandya, has resumed operations and is expected to be profitable this year.
