Karnataka co-operation department will soon amend the Karnataka State Co-operative Societies Act so as to protect the interest of investors and end a lengthy and complicated procedure, reports Deccan Herald.
Addressing the media in Bangalore, Co-operation Minister H S Mahadeva Prasad said single-window system would be introduced to simplify land conversion processes and help secure clearances from various agencies.
Presently, housing societies cannot purchase land directly from farmers.
The minister said a committee headed by the additional chief secretary of the department had studied government housing provisions in states such as Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and submitted its proposals.
