The BJP govt in Karnataka will soon amend the Land Reforms Act 1961 to allow general people to buy and own farmlands across the state for agricultural activities, reports IANS.
The amended Act will permit all kinds of institutions including cooperative societies to buy land for agricultural production.
According to a section, non-agriculturists can buy farmland only if their annual non-agricultural income is not above Rs 25 lakh.
Meanwhile, BJP”s Rajya Sabha member K.C. Ramamurthy from Bengaluru has praised the state govt for its historic decision.
