Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s wife Kanchan Gadkari, who recently turned a banker has resolved to transform Nagpur’s obscure Samruddhi Cooperative Bank into a 100 crore venture, reports Times of India.
The bank has just begun providing its customers indigenous Rupay debit card making it probably the first small-sized urban cooperative to have its plastic money facility.
The bank has four branches raking in a total profit of 21 lakh rupees – a seven-times growth, as against the previous balance sheet. The bank has fixed deposits of Rs 43 crore and loans worth 24 crore.
The bank plans to issue 2,000 debit cards and encourage use of plastic money.
