Replying to the discussion on Demand for Grants of Cooperatives Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjay told the State Assembly that the government would bring in new Act to revitalize the cooperative sector in the state, reports PTI.
The minister said as the cooperative movement seeks to achieve a comprehensive socio-economic betterment of the poor, the state government is committed to taking steps to strengthen cooperatives.
“This (new) uniform Cooperative Act will combine the existing J&K Cooperative Society Act 1989 and Self Reliant Cooperative Act 1999, while keeping the democratic and autonomous character of cooperative societies and cooperative banks intact,” the minister said.
Merger is most necessary under the supervision of one chairman and CEO to end management corruption.
