“Bhoomi Vikas bank chief joins BJP”, screamed a headline in the Daily Pioneer detailing how Praful Singh, a Biscomaun delegate and Chairman of Bhoomi Vikas Bank, Garhwa vowed to rewrite the fortunes of BJP in an area where the party’s influence had been cipher.
Indian Cooperative has in these columns covered in detail Praful’s quitting cushy journalistic job in Delhi on the call of people from the area. Praful’s father Awadesh Kumar Singh was a force to reckon with in the Hussainabad region of Garhwa district.
In his Face Book post Praful writes “I have joined BJP in the presence of party president Laxman Gilua and general secretary Dipak Prakash.”
The Hussainabad region of Garhwa district has never been won by the BJP since the partition of the state in 2000. Singh and his supporters have vowed to capture the seat for BJP this time round.
Earlier, Praful Singh also met the Sahakar Bharati leader Satish Marathe when the latter went to Ranchi to participate in a co-op conference. The two deliberated on ways to revive the co-op movement in the state.
