Condolences are pouring in on the desk of Indian Cooperative on the passing away of the legendary cooperator Dr Jaya Arunachalam. Among others, Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Vice-Chairman Kekhwengulo Lea has also expressed his condolences.
Lea wrote to Indian Cooperative, “Expressed heartfelt condolence on behalf of Nagaland State Co-operative Bank to the bereaved family of Dr Jaya Arunachalam. Her contribution towards upliftment of the weaker sections and women will tremendously be cherished by generations to come. May her soul rest in peace”, he wrote.
Earlier, NCUI president Chandra Pal and IFFCO MD, Dr Awasthi and many other cooperators condoled with the family members of the departed cooperator.
Condolences are also pouring in from foreign countries especially from Germany, underling her deep connection with the like-minded people beyond the boundaries of India.
It bears recall that Dr Jaya Arunachalam is credited with transforming the lives of millions of poor women in Tamil Nadu. A graduate in Economics and Geography, Diploma in Management, USA, She was awarded ‘Padmasri’ in 1987 by the President of India and Stree Shakthi Puraskar by the Tamil Nadu State Government in 2002.
