Jan Aushadhi Kendras saved Rs 25,000cr so far: Shah

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah addressed the distribution of store codes for Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in New Delhi.

Shah highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthen PACS financially, converting 2373 PACS into affordable Jan Aushadhi Kendras for medicine distribution.

Emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in the pharmaceutical sector, Shah noted India’s global leadership but acknowledged a domestic challenge of 60 crore people unable to afford medicines.

The Jan Aushadhi Kendra initiative, offering affordable generic medicines, has saved Rs 25,000 crore for the poor in the last nine years, with plans for further rural expansion through the cooperative sector.
