Tribune reports while the ruling Congress members filed their nomination papers for the elections to the Board of Directors of Jalandhar Central Cooperative Bank, the Akali Dal supported candidates were not allowed to do so.
It is said the bank was closed after the ruling party members had filed their nomination papers. A source is quoted saying the ruling party used the last particle of its power in disallowing opposition candidates from submitting their nomination papers.
The SAD candidates have accused the ruling Congress of misusing govt. machinery not to permit the process of filing nomination papers as per the prescribed guidelines.
