In a predictable move, Aditya Yadav has been officially announced as the Samajwadi Party’s candidate for the Budaun constituency in Uttar Pradesh, replacing his father Shiv Pal Yadav. This development comes as no surprise, as earlier indications hinted at this succession within the party.
The Indian Cooperative, a leading media outlet, had foreseen this transition, recognizing Aditya Yadav as a potential replacement for his father. Subsequently, the SP’s decision has solidified this prediction.
The groundwork for Aditya’s candidacy was laid out earlier, with the local party unit advocating for his nomination during a workers’ conference. Initially, there were discussions of Aditya contesting the Jaswant Nagar assembly bypoll if Shiv Pal secured victory in Budaun. However, Shiv Pal’s intention to retain his position as the Jaswant Nagar MLA altered this plan.
With Budaun set to go to polls in the third phase on May 7, the nomination process commenced on April 12 and will conclude on April 19.
