Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has increased the prices of milk by Rs 2 per litre. Amul Managing Director R S Sodhi said ” we are increasing prices as input cost has increased.”

“While the prices paid to farmers have increased by 20 percent in this period, the costs of production including that of cattle feed and ingredients have also increased by 19-20 percent,” Sodhi added.

He further said “It is after 25 months that we are increasing milk prices in the Delhi market.” In Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai and other markets, prices will be revised in the next eight to ten days,” added R S Sodhi.

It is the first increase in milk prices in the last two years.

Milk price has hiked in Delhi from Saturday and the price hike will become effective from Sunday in Gujarat. Amul sells about 30 lakh litres of milk per day in the Delhi-NCR region.
