Responding to the appeal of the apex body of Urban Cooperative Banks-Nafcub, Maharashtra based Income Tax Department Cooperative Bank has contributed Rs 1.50 lakh towards the CM Relief fund in order to help the government fight against the corona pandemic.
Sharing the details, the bank Chairman Rupesh Besekar said, “The bank has contributed Rs 1.50 lakh towards the CM relief fund. Besides, the bank has made a provision of Rs 5 lakh from the members welfare fund as donation to the CM Relief fund. Since it exceeds 1% of Net Profit, they have asked for approval from the Maharashtra Rajya Sahakari Sangh. As soon as the bank gets approval, the same will be donated. The bank is also planning to donate some amount to the PM Cares Fund”, he asserted.
“Our bank is small but we are making efforts to help the needy. As the transportation service is presently closed, I drive my employees from their homes situated at Titwala, Kalyan, Dombivli to the office so that customers will not face any problem”, he informed.
The bank has one main branch and two extension counters in Mumbai and earned a net profit of Rs 1.50 in the 2018-19 financial year.
