IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company distributed cycle rickshaws to rickshaw pullers residing in Gurugram as a part of the livelihood generation project for the underprivileged.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Anamika Roy Rashtrawar, MD & CEO, IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company said, “We all have watched that rickshaw pullers hardly did any business over the past few months. Most of them do not own the rickshaws they pull and whether they earn anything in a day or not, each of them still have to pay the daily rent.
To provide these underprivileged people with means of sustainable living – we decided to distribute rickshaws to 100 of them. Also, a rickshaw is a means of transport that does not add to pollution of the environment and does not add to global warming, informs a press release issued by the organization.
In his remarks. Ramesh Kumar, Senior Executive Director (HR, Admin and CSR), IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company said, “We are proud to have played a small part in transforming the lives of these beneficiaries who can earn their livelihood with dignity.”
IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance Company is a 51:49 joint venture between the IFFCO and Tokio Marine Group, which is the largest listed insurance group in Japan.
