The first ever election of a woman cooperator Sadhana Jadhav who hails from Nashik, Maharashtra to the board of the country’s leading fertilizer cooperative IFFCO has attracted a great deal of attention. The story about her election has been splashed across the front pages of both Hindi and Marathi newspapers in the city, as several felicitations were organized welcoming her.

Sadhana also said, “It’s a proud moment for me that I have been elected to the board of IFFCO. I will play my humble role in helping the farmers as well as women.
Readers would recall that during the election there were two women fighting for the post of director. A large number of women delegates were supposed to choose their leader. It was remarkable that out of 46 voters, as many as 43 turned up to cast their votes. And they chose Sadhana Jadhav who polled 27 votes. Her rival Kasturkar bagged only 16 votes.
