In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Ms. Anupriya Patel, highlighted that drone-based spraying of nano fertilizers has garnered significant interest among farmers during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
To accelerate adoption, the Department of Fertilizers (DoF), in collaboration with fertilizer companies, has launched a Maha Abhiyan for Nano DAP, covering all 15 agro-climatic zones in India through consultations and field demonstrations.
Additionally, a large-scale campaign for Nano Urea Plus has been initiated in 100 districts to raise awareness among farmers.
Although there is currently no subsidy provision for nano fertilizers, the government is encouraging fertilizer companies to establish Nano Fertilizer Plants. To ensure widespread availability, Nano Urea and Nano DAP are stocked at Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras (PMKSKs).
To further promote nano fertilizers, multiple initiatives such as awareness camps, field demonstrations, webinars, nukkad nataks (street plays), Kisan Sammelans, and regional language films are being conducted.
Recently, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), through the Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, also organized a National Campaign on the “Efficient and Balanced Use of Fertilizers (including Nano-fertilizers).”
