Keeping a promise Dr U S Awasthi, IFFCO Managing Director had made at the 6th National Conference of Sahakar Bharati in Rajasthan he handed over a cheque of Rs one crore to the Sahakar Bharati delegation which visited the fertilizer cooperative headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday.
The IFFCO MD personally handed over the cheque to the newly elected president Ramesh Vaidya. Sahakar Bharati’s National General Secretary Uday Joshi, Laxminarayan Gupta, Sanjay Pachpor and IFFCO’s Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar were also present on the occasion.
Sharing the information through social media IFFCO MD wrote on his twitter wall, “Today, met Sh. Ramesh Vaidyaji, Chairman & Sh. Uday Joshiji, General Secretary & other officials from @Sahakar_Bharati and presented the cheque of Rs 1 crore on behalf of #IFFCO to support #SahakarBharati for women empowerment & farmer welfare across the country”.
The money would be spent on women empowerment and farmer welfare.
During the Pushkar conference, IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi was given the prestigious Laxmanrao Inamdar Memorial Award for his outstanding contributions in promoting the cooperative movement in the country.
Readers would recall that IFFCO had been donating money to strengthen the co-op movements in various parts of the country. Last year it donated Rs 2 crore to Biscomaun for upgrading its tech know-how. Earlier, it also donated to UP’s PCF for computerization of its offices.
