It is time to greet birthday wishes to Suresh Prabhu the Union Railway Minister who is credited with initiative of reaching out to the lakhs of employees of railway by wishing them on their birthdays through SMS.
One of the firsts from the cooperative sector to greet him on this day was IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi who tweeted Monday morning “My Birthday Greetings & Wishes to @sureshpprabhu an inspirational & dedicated leader. God bless you with happiness, good health & success.”
Prabhu’s cabinet colleague and Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh was also quick to tweet” Birthday greetings to Shri Suresh Prabhu Ji @sureshpprabhu . May God bless him with a long, successful and healthy life.”
Birthday wishes are pouring for the Union Railway Minister and a long-time cooperator Suresh Prabhu from various quarters as he turns 63 this day.
Always eager to lend a helping hand to a cooperative cause Prabhu has stood shoulder to shoulder with cooperators should any issue crop up. Recently on the issue of license of apex cooperative bank COBI he not only phoned the Finance Secretary to look into the matter but also promised to raise the issue at still higher level when a delegation of Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, G H Amin and Bijender Singh visited him.
Prabhu had been a practicing cooperator could be understood from the fact that he was on Boards of a dozen of national level cooperative federations in the past. His sympathy for Cobi is also due to him being on its Board in the history.
He was one of the Governing Council members in the apex cooperative body NCUI and he was chairman of Saraswat Bank-the biggest Mumbai headquartered urban cooperative bank which touched the magical figure of achieving Rs 50 thousand crore turnover.
