ICA: NCUI President congratulates Roelants

The apex body of cooperative movement in the country National Cooperative Union of India has congratulated Mr Bruno Roelants on his appointment as New Director General of ICA.

In a mail sent to Indian Cooperative, NCUI writes “Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Vice-Chairman, ICA – Asia Pacific Regional Board & President, National Cooperative Union of India and Mr. N. Satyanarayana, Chief Executive congratulated Mr. Bruno Roelants on his appointment as New Director General of ICA.”

The mail which carries reactions of both the President and the Chief Executive says that NCUI looks forward to work together with the new DG for the development of cooperatives in India as well as Asia Pacific Region. Incidentally, Chandra Pal is also the Vice-President of ICA Asia-Pacific.

Earlier, the International Co-operative Alliance Board appointed Bruno Roelants as the new Director-General on Thursday. Roelants who succeeds Charles Gould will begin his new role in the coming weeks.

An old hand at ICA, Roelants currently serves as Secretary General of CICOPA, the sectoral Organisation of the ICA for industry and services. Under his leadership, membership of the organisation increased from 18 countries in 2002 to 32 countries in 2018, the claims ICA sources.

Roelants will be the 16th Director-General of the Alliance.
