Bhopal cooperator and a known face in Delhi’s cooperative circle Arti Bisaria has made it to the Executive Council of ICA Gender Equality Committee.
There were six vacancies and Bisaria was one among the five who were nominated from their respective countries. One seat has remained vacant as none out of 29 countries evinced any interest.
The election for the chairperson is scheduled in the ICA General Assembly scheduled in Malaysia mid November. According to sources, Bisaria has no plan to contest for the top slot.
It bears recall that Dr Nandini Azad who is the Acting Chair of the International Cooperative Alliance-Asia Pacific (ICA-AP) Women’s Committee (elected Vice-Chairperson) was also in the fray.
NCUI had to send the name of one candidate and it chose Bisaria, though many believed that Nandani would have been a better choice. “She had international exposure and is fluent in English; she could have even got elected to the top post”, sources confided to Indian Cooperative.
For the Chairperson of ICA Gender Equality Committee there are just two nominations.
Bisaria is a protégé of late Surendra Singh Sisodia-the formidable cooperator from Madhya Pradesh.
