The day has finally arrived. The International Co-operative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) Board is meeting today at 9am in the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi.
Soon after the Board meeting a Press conference is to take place. The 12th ICA-AP Regional Assembly, the 9th Asia Pacific Co-operative Forum and various workshops are scheduled to start from today.
Theme of the meet is “Role of Cooperatives in Sustainable Development and Growth”. Around 250 foreign cooperative delegates from China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, Iran, etc are expected to be present on the occasion.
International Cooperative Alliance Asia-Pacific is the representative body of cooperatives in Asia-Pacific region with members from 29 countries altogether. The regional assembly is the biennial meeting of Alliance members in the region.
This assembly is the highest decision making authority in the democratic enterprise space of co-operatives in the Asia-Pacific region. Co-operatives mark their presence in all the sectors of cooperative movement in this region. National Cooperative Union of India, the apex organisation of the cooperative movement in India is a member of ICA-AP and the host to the function.
