The Himachal Pradesh government has launched a comprehensive investigation into alleged fraudulent activities at the State Co-operative Bank during the tenure of former chairman and Rajya Sabha member Harsh Mahajan, media reports say.
Rural and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh announced this, emphasizing that strict measures will be taken against those implicated.
The inquiry follows accusations by Singh against Mahajan, suggesting unethical behaviours, including the manipulation of MLA support for his Rajya Sabha seat.
Additionally, amidst political tensions, Singh critiqued the opposition and reassured that legislative actions were constitutionally sound, highlighting a political context to the allegations with no formal fraud complaints filed yet.
