Himachal’s Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri laid the foundation stone of a cooperative training centre and community building at Panjawar village in his Haroli Assembly segment of Una district of the state, reports Tribune.
Speaking on this occasion, the deputy chief minister said the centre would be called Mian Hira Singh, who in 1892 started the first cooperative of the world by organising local farmers to save their agricultural lands from floods.
The center, Agnihotri said, would keep the first cooperator’s memories alive forever.
The state govt. has given the first installment of Rs 5 crore for the construction of the center.
