The High Court of J&K and Ladakh halted an order by the MD of J&K State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, instructing a 40% salary cut for Kashmir division employees until the bank’s recovery, media reports say.
The court responded to 47 affected employees who argued that the MD’s directive, allegedly influenced by an administrator, lacked reasoning. Justice Rahul Bharti questioned the basis for the MD’s action.
The court issued notices to multiple entities, raising concerns about the legality of the administrator’s appointment, highlighting that J&K SCARDB hasn’t conducted elections in 20 years, rendering the order without authority.
