Indian Express reports Haryana cooperative minister Dr Banwari Lal has said Hafed will set up markets in every district of the state to provide farmers with remunerative prices for their farm produce so as to encourage cooperative societies involved in farm production.
The newly set up markets will offer dairy and all other essential items including fruits and vegetables. The minister was addressing a cooperative function in Karnal.
In his remarks the minister emphasized the crucial role of cooperative institutions in the context of rapid economic development of Haryana. There are 22,000 cooperative societies in Haryana but only 12,000 are doing well, a source is quoted saying.
