The Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPAs) of state cooperative banks as of 31st March 2021 was of Rs 6.7 percent, whereas in regard to District Central Cooperative Banks it had come down from 12.6 percent (2019-20) to 11.4 percent in the 2020-21FY.
And in case of Urban Cooperative Banks it had increased from 10.6 percent as on 31st March 2020 to 11.7 percent as of 31st March 2021, as per RBI report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said this while replying to a query related to overdues in cooperative banks, raised by E.T.Mohammed Basheer, Lok Sabha member.
Shah further added that, “Under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act 1949, RBI issues instructions, circulars, guidelines and notifications to Cooperative banks including State Cooperative Banks (StCBs), District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) from time to time”.
