IANS reports the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog or National Cow Commission will urge the new government in Delhi to make it mandatory for fertilizer cooperatives like KRIBHCO and IFFCO to produce 10 per cent of bio-fertilizers from cow dung and cow urine out of their total annual production.
The Commission would also suggest incentives for the cooperatives in producing bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides.
The Commission, says all this will drastically reduce the country’s dependence on imported fertilizer and save the scarce foreign exchange.
The Commission chairman Bhalabhbhai Kathiria is quoted claiming the initiative will ensure better prices for dairy farmers as well as boost the country’s economy.
