From 2019-20 to 2024-25, significant subsidies in fertilizers have been provided to ensure farmers get these at affordable prices, said Union Minister Smt. Anupriya Patel in the Lok Sabha.
Under the ‘DBT in Fertilizers’ system, 100% subsidy is given to fertilizer companies based on actual sales to beneficiaries authenticated via Aadhaar through POS devices at retail shops, she said.
The government promotes balanced and integrated nutrient management practices, using both inorganic and organic sources, slow-releasing nitrogenous fertilizers, and neem-coated urea.
This includes schemes like Indigenous P&K, Imported P&K, Indigenous Urea, and Imported Urea to provide nutrient-rich fertilizers. Additionally, the Market Development Assistance (MDA) of Rs. 1500/MT is approved to promote organic fertilizers, she stated.
Several potassium-containing fertilizer grades are included under the Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) scheme, including Potash derived from Molasses (PDM), she concluded.
