Hindu reports Karnataka Minister for Co-operation and Sugar H.S. Mahadeva Prasad say the state government will soon establish cold storages all over Karnataka.
The govt. will establish facilities that could store 13 lakh tonnes grains. The project needs around Rs. 800 crore. The govt. will borrow money from Nabard for the purpose, the minister said.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the performance of Primary Land Development Banks in the state saying 177 PLD banks have improved their financial position by achieving targeted loan recoveries.
The minister said that the amendment to the Cooperative Act was aimed at preventing irregularities and corruption in housing cooperative bodies by allowing them to directly purchase lands for housing purposes.
