Govt is implementing a centrally sponsored “PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme” for a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25 with an outlay of Rs 10,000 Crore.
PMFME Scheme provides support to Self Help Groups (SHGs)/ Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)/ Cooperatives for setting up/ upgradation of micro food processing units, Seed Capital to SHGs, Common Infrastructure, Marketing & Branding support etc. These schemes help farmers in processing/ selling their produce in farm vicinity.
This information was given by Minister of State for M/o Food Processing Industries, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The umbrella scheme- Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), provides grants-in-aid for setting up of food processing/ preservation industries with farm level infrastructure like primary processing facilities, collection centers etc.
