Adarsh Krishi Cooperative society at Balli, Quepem, in Goa addressed media persons and told the cooperative effort to offer its community outreach services in the field of remedial education and general utility services. Prakash Velip chairman of the society told journalists the cooperative organization would soon begin remedial coaching classes in at least 10 centers in South Goa, according to a report in ToI.
According to Mr. Velip , the society will also set up a call center in Quepem offering people the services of plumber, carpenter, coconut plucker ,tile fitter, railway and flight reservations , tourist packages etc.
The Adarsh Krishi cooperative society will be opening its two new branches – one at Codli-Tisk, Dabhal, and the other at Sanguem, The society currently operates its business activities through 27 branches across Goa, Velip said.
The society has over 8,000 shareholders, mostly farmers from remote parts of Goa. The society has purchased 400 tonnes of cashews from farmers this year. The society also purchases the highest amount of copra from farmers in Goa. The society also deals in purchase and sale of paddy, coconuts, black pepper, arecanuts and other agricultural commodities, Mr. Velip added.
Managing director of the society, Ramu Naik Gaonkar, and directors, Laxman Velip and Satish Velip, were present during the press briefing.
