The state marketing co-op federation of Bihar, BISCOMAUN which had been leading from the front making urea available to the farmers in the state, has also employed women staff-members to tackle the swelling crowds at its sale-centres.
Cooperative would be viable only when youths and women adopt it fully, said Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh talking to Indian Cooperative. Biscomaun ensures that we employ women in our work-force, he said while sharing several photographs of women handling the fertilizer rush at its centres.
Approximately 145 centres of Biscomaun spread in the state, are thronged by farmers from the morning and the rush is too much for the staff-members to handle, said Sunil. “We need to seek district administration support to control the situation every now and then”, he underlined.

Explaining the rush Sunil tells that it is the rate and the quality that attract people to these centres. “We sell IFFCO’s branded urea and we charge the least in the entire state, which is Rs 265 a bag”, underlined Singh. We have also announced an award if one can prove a higher rate was demanded from him, he stressed.

Talking to Indian Cooperative, Sunil Kumar Singh had said, “In the history of over 70 years of Biscomaun on 14 August 2018, our retail sale of Urea has gone up and disbursed urea of worth Rs 3.51 crore to the farmers of the state. It is possible only because of the support of the world’s largest fertilizer Cooperative IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi and Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar and his team”.
