Dairy cooperative giant GCMMF that owns the Amul brand, has increased its milk supply to Mumbai and other urban centers in Maharashtra to meet the shortage of milk owing to a reduced number of milch animals and fodder in the wake of recent floods.
Talking to Indian Cooperative GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi said that this was done as floods have caused a large-scale devastation in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra ‘s local suppliers were not able to cater to the dairy needs of the people.
GCMMF supplies 1.9-2.0 million litres daily for consumption in Mumbai and Pune, R S Sodhi, managing director, GCMMF is quoted saying.
