A news outlet quotes GCMMF (Amul) Chairman saying that the dairy giant has contributed to both the state and Central govts. While Rs 51 lakh has been donated to the PM Care Fund, another Rs 50 lakh to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
Amul employees have also jointly contributed Rs 12.25 lakh vowing to fight the coronavirus, said GCMMF Chairman Ramsinh Parmar.
Meanwhile, GCMMF officials claim the consumption of milk products with longer shelf-life has greatly increased over the recent months. It has noticed an increase of 15-50% in the sales of paneer, ghee, butter and tetra-pack milk, they added.
Amul M D RS Sodhi said the new plants acquired by the milk cooperative on a temporary basis in Rajasthan and Maharashtra will be given up when the milk supply lowers in summer.
It bears recall that amid the lock down restrictions GCMMF -the owner of the brand Amul — has acquired additional plants outside Gujarat to process the surplus milk procured from across the country.
