A scam in a central cooperative bank in Bhatinda in Punjab has come to light. The Mehma Sarja village branch of the bank has been defrauded of about Rs 2 crore.
The Bhatinda district cooperative bank officials detected the fraud and found a former manager of the bank responsible for it.
The accused Manjinder Singh had taken loans in fake entries. Mr. Singh presently posted at the branch in Ghudda has been suspended. A full enquiry has been ordered into the scam.
