According to Tribune News Service, Cooperative Bank authorities have detected a scam at the Sandoha village branch of the bank in Bhatinda in Punjab.
Investigations have revealed that former functionaries of the bank had created fake accounts in the name of the farmers.
Economic Offence Wing (EOW) carried out the investigations into the matter on the complaint of the farmer Bogha Singh, a resident of Sandoha village.
Bogha Singh stated that former bank managers of cooprative bank branch of Sandoha Paramjit Singh, Hakam Singh, Sher Singh, Sukhdarshan Singh along with Gurjant Singh, secretary Sandoha cooperative society had done fraud by making fake accounts on the name and had also issued cheque books on their name.
Police say they have registered a case against the accused under Sections 406, 419, 420, 465, 467, 471 and 120 B.
