Nitesh Patil Director Worli Koliwada Nakhwa Vyavsay Cooperative Society has warned that, the fishermen or Koli communities of Mumbai will not take part in the parliamentary election to be held on April 29, reports Free Press Journal.
The election boycott be prompted by their deep anger against the projects like coastal road, Shivaji memorial, and the 300 acre BMC Park which will greatly affect their livelihood.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation has already begun constructing these projects by reclaiming the sea off Mumbai coast.
Sources say thousands of Koliwadas live in small pockets close to the coast and eke out their living by fishing.
