Managing Director B K Mishra of the apex body of fisheries co-operatives in the country FISHCOPFED has lauded the Union Budget 2018-19 presented in the Parliament by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last week.
“I am happy as the long standing demand of FISHCOPFED to provide Kisan Card facilities to fish farmers has been accepted”, said Mishra to Indian Cooperative.
Mishra also appreciated the govt for giving parity to Fisheries along with Agriculture. “It is a good sign and it would positively affect Blue economy”, MD added.
Readers would recall that Jaitley announced setting up a Fisheries and Aqua culture Infrastructure Development Fund (FAIDF) for fisheries sector with a total corpus of Rs.10,000 crore.
“As regards fisheries Rs.10000cr has been kept for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Fund. This shall immensely enhance fish production”, Mishra added.
Commenting generally Mishra said “It is good and balanced budget to boost rural economy with emphasis on growth in Agriculture and allied sectors. The cooperative sector can benefit in a big way”, Mishra felt.
