Coop AGMs known for bonhomie and brotherhood had their records covered with pockmarks when a violent scene erupted at the AGM of Dudhsagar Dairy on Tuesday. One security guard and a few relatives of a former Vice Chairman were injured and are recuperating in hospitals. All of them are said to be out of danger.
The genesis of the fight is in a tussle going on between Dudhsagar Dairy’s ex-chairman Moghji Chaudhary and the current Chairman Ashok Chaudhary.
The incident happened when Moga Chaudhary along with his son and nephew was entering the AGM venue in a car. When security guards stopped them Harshad Chaudhary, the son of the ex-chairman, opened fire hitting the guard in his chest.
Later talking to the media, Moga said that Ashok Chaudhary had instructed guards to stop us as he feared that we would expose his irregularities in the AGM
Ashok Chaudhary, on the other hand, said that Moga Chaudhary was carrying many outsiders in his car to disturb the proceedings of the AGM.
Moga is said to be close to Vipul Chaudhary who called shots at Dudhsagar for many years. Dudhsagar is a milk union within the GCMMF, owner of the brand Amul. It was recently in the news when it inducted a woman on its board.
