The upper house of Parliament witnessed an acrimonious debate between the opposition and the ruling BJP over the agrarian crisis in the country especially the challenges faced by farmers, reports Indian Express.
Opposition members criticized the govt for failing to address the crisis and quoted figures of farmers suicides.
Most of the discussions were, however, centered on Madhya Pradesh of which many members in the house disapproved.
BJP member Prabhat Jha from MP flipped the script when he weighed in, quoting figures on the killing of farmers during the Congress regime in the late 90s in Madhya Pradesh.
